LUKE 9:46

Honestly what I expected the Lord to do was first to be angry at His disciples about why they were arguing about who was going to be the greatest because in some sense meant they were focusing on themselves rather than focusing on others and this could promote strife amongst them. But Jesus didn't rebuke them, rather He taught them that it's okay to want to do great things and become great but you guys are getting it wrong in terms of your criteria to being great.

"He taught them that it's okay to want to do great things and become great but you guys are getting it wrong in terms of your criteria to being great."

To become great, you must become small. I'm sure this shocked them. The disciples were thinking of obviously bigger things like fasting for 40 days as their master did or praying as frequently as their master did, or doing the miraculous and demonstrating power as their master did but no, it was none of that.

Becoming great meant they had to become like children!

That meant they had to;

i. Give freely and easily

ii. Forgive easily

iii. Worry less

iv. Pure in heart

v. Depend on their father

The summation of all these traits is humility.

GOD on HIGH regarding the LOWLY - Psalm 138:6

Jesus taught that in pursuit of greatness, you may attain a high position but never forget the roots you come from. Sometimes, we're blinded by the fruits and refuse to see that it is the root that is the source of nutrient supply to the tree and we seldom like the roots because you'll have to soil your hands before you get there but he who makes himself of no reputation is he that knees bow to ( Philippians 2:7).

"Sometimes, we're blinded by the fruits and refuse to see that it is the root that is the source of nutrient supply to the tree"

Therefore, let's prefer to make ourselves nothing, that God will one day make us something.

LOVE ALL, RESPECT ALL, LIKE SOME! God bless us!
