PSALMS 24:7-10
7 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
And be lifted up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of glory shall come in.
8 Who is this King of Glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O you gates!
Lift up, you everlasting doors!
And the King of Glory shall come in.
10 Who is this King of Glory?
The Lord of hosts,
He is the King of Glory.

I love the first verse. The Psalmist says “Lift up your heads, O you gates!”
To lift up our heads is to look up to a certain figure of hope. Most of the time we have our
heads down when we’re down. Our down times may be due to disappointment, failure,
rejection, you name them, but in the midst of all these, the Psalmist commands; Lift up your
head! *Speaking in tongues*
Lift up your head to stay up! Lift up your head to look unto someone above that problem. This is something that we practice in our day to day activities at work yet as Christians we tend to mumble when we’re faced with difficulties. Anytime a problem comes up at work, is it not our superiors we talk to in order to find a solution to that problem? We trust that they can handle it because they have not only the expertise but also the years of experience. Why then don’t we consult He whose name is the Ancient of Days?! Not only did He create the world, but He existed before time began! What a portfolio of experience!
"Lift up your head to stay up! Lift up your head to look unto someone above that problem. This is something that we practice in our day to day activities at work yet as Christians we tend to mumble when we’re faced with difficulties."
The lead Parson of CityHill Group International: Rev. Godspeed Angels always says that he is never perturbed because he doesn’t think about his problems. He simply thinks above them. I believe he was making reference to Psalms 24:7. Always look unto someone above that problem! That’s why the word of God says “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). Our faith here is the walk of faith. You cannot complete this walk of faith if you’re looking about you. Look up! Again, Rev. Godspeed Angels taught us that there is a difference between seeing and looking. To look is to cast your mind off what you’re seeing, paying particular attention to what you want to behold. Therefore, to look unto Jesus is to cast our minds off all the problems that are about(around) us. Be it that depression, be it that inferiority complex, be it that sickness, be it that habit of procrastination, be it that addiction, be it that lack of focus, be it that partner at work or at home, be it that blood type that causes you to become sick regularly, whatever the problem is, once it has a name, know that it can be addressed because He(God) has given us a name that is ABOVE every other name! Look up! My friend, look up!
"To look is to cast your mind off what you’re seeing, paying particular attention to what you want to behold. "
So I remember in the scriptures, when the Israelites were being bitten by snakes in the wilderness as a result of their complains against God, God told Moses to lift up a brazen serpent and attached a simple remedy that they should LOOK and live. Little did they know that the brazen serpent was a typology of He who was to come; Jesus! The Son of the living God that as we look unto Him, we’ll be completely healed of those evils that bite us. Give Jesus a shout of praise!
